Laurisa provides attachment-trauma treatment informed by neuroscience and based on Dr. Daniel Hughes' model of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. Treatment is focused on repairing the relationship between the child and the parent(s). Empathy, Attunement (emotional connection and regulation), nurturing, gentle confrontation and humor are used to help the child process trauma, build trust, a sense of safety and increase bonding within the parent-child relationship. Treatment requires a team approach that includes the family as well as multi-disciplinary providers such as occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychiatrists and others. Laurisa has a network of several providers with whom she works who complete evaluations and provide additional treatment services. Referrals are made as needed.
